History of the Wilcox Christian Learning Center
The Wilcox Christian Learning Center was established on January 11, 2013. It was approved by the Wilcox County Board of Education that February. A cross-section of citizens from the Wilcox County community began in December of 2012 to form a steering committee to develop a plan to implement Released Time Classes for Wilcox County High School Students. Further discussion led to the decision to offer classes for the High School and the Middle School in the first year of operation. Our first classes were scheduled for the Fall of 2013. Classes for Wilcox County Elementary School 5th graders began in the fall of 2015. In 2016 we added 2 classes, Old Testament and New Testament, for the Wilcox County High School students. In 2018 we added a class for the Wilcox County Elementary School 4th graders. In the 2019-2020 school year we began offering classes to the Wilcox County Middle School 6th and 7th graders. We recently were blessed to be able to purchase and move into the old Wilcox County High School building in Rochelle. This gave us additional classrooms, larger bathrooms and a meeting room facility in addition to improved parking. We are continuing to offer classes for 4th grade through 12th grade as we begin our 9th year of teaching God’s word to Wilcox County Public School students.
The Wilcox Christian Learning Center (WCLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, tax exempt school teaching SACS CASI accredited courses located at 186 7th Avenue in Rochelle, Georgia where elective courses based on Biblical principles are taught. Following are some noteworthy specifics:
